Vocabulary lists, kanji with stroke order and readings, self-testing quizzes and reading practice — organised level by level, from your first hundred words to business Japanese.
The first step. Everyday words, the 79 starter kanji, and the phrases you use from day one.
Basic Japanese. Verb pairs, polite forms, and the vocabulary of school, work and travel.
The bridge level. Abstract nouns, compound verbs and the reading skills N2 assumes you have.
Exam-level Japanese, plus a full 60-day study plan and JLPT-format reading practice.
The top level. Newspaper and academic vocabulary, 985 kanji, and the full jōyō set.
Business Japanese Test prep: 42 keigo conversion rows, workplace vocabulary across 21 themes and real office scenarios.
Every level page works the same way, so once you learn one you know them all.
Words grouped by theme and word type. Search across the whole level, hide readings or meanings to self-test, and tap any word to hear it spoken.
Every kanji for the level. Tap one to open a panel with animated stroke order, on'yomi and kun'yomi readings, and the words on that level which use it.
Multiple-choice self-testing in both directions — kanji to meaning, reading to kanji, word to meaning and back again — with a score at the end.
Every word that appears anywhere on a level page — vocabulary groups, keigo tables, office scenarios and the 60-day plan — deduplicated into one searchable list in 五十音 order.
N2 adds a 60-day plan and JLPT-format reading passages. BJT adds keigo conversion tables and real office scenarios.
If you are not sure where to start, N5 assumes no prior Japanese. N3 is the usual bridge year and the hardest jump. N2 is the level most employers in Japan ask for, and the BJT is a separate business-Japanese exam you can take alongside N2 or N1.
